Recipe For Product Pindos Grasslands Organic Feta Cheese

Feta cheese & bacon tart

Ingredients


For the pastry

  • 270g all-purpose flour
  • 150g cold butter, chopped into small cubes
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsps cold water

For the filling

  • 4 leeks (only the tender parts), finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 8 slices bacon
  • 200g Pindos Grasslands Organic Feta cheese 
  • 4 eggs
  • 450ml cream
  • Salt, pepper & nutmeg

Execution

  1. Place the flour, salt and butter in a bowl and knead together. Gradually add the water and continue to knead until you have a smooth dough.
  2. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  3. Butter a baking dish and sprinkle with flour.
  4. Place the dough in the baking dish and spread with your hands, making sure it covers the whole bottom and the sides. Pierce all over with a fork and bake for 15-20 minutes.
  5. At the same time, heat the butter over medium heat in a frying pan, and sauté the leeks until soft.
  6. Fry the bacon until crisp in a different pan, and chop up.
  7. Arrange the leeks, bacon and cheese uniformly over the pastry.
  8. Whisk the eggs lightly in a bowl, add the cream, salt, pepper, nutmeg and mix. Pour over the pastry and bake for approximately 40 minutes, until the filling is firm.
